Aesop Elemental Facial Barrier Cream Review

Aesop Barrier Cream

Aesop Elemental Facial Barrier Cream might just be the most underrated skin care product I have ever slapped on my face. If Gandolf ๐Ÿ”ฎ were to make a face cream in a cauldron somewhere deep in the Forest of Fangorn ๐ŸŒฒ, this would be that face cream. This magical โœจ substance will soothe your skin, hydrate it, and protect it from the elements. It’s a triple threat!

So I personally take a scalding hot ๐Ÿ”ฅ shower every single morning which while highly enjoyable, it tends to dry my skin out pretty badly. Even if you don’t do that, pretty much everything these days will lead to dry skin. Too hot, too cold, most soaps, hard water, age, medical conditions, etc.. I can’t imagine there are a lot of people who DON’T deal with dry skin.

This cream is the solution to all of your dry skin problems, there is no doubt in my mind about that. It comes in a beautiful little glass jar ๐Ÿฏ and it smells like a mystical pine forest ๐ŸŒฒ filled with unicorns and crystal clear springs. I usually take a tiny dab of it and spread a thin layer all over my face, a little bit goes a long way here.

Just a very thin layer of this stuff will soothe and hydrate your skin while also creating a barrier from outside elements that cause dry skin.

Another thing I have found useful, is to apply an initial layer of a super basic moisturizing cream like Lubriderm, and then put a layer of Aesop Elemental Facial Barrier Cream on top of that. For me, I get an extra jolt ๐Ÿ’ฆโšก๏ธย  of moisture, and all of the benefits of the barrier on top of that. A little moisture sandwich ๐Ÿฅชย  if you will.

Key Active Ingredients Breakdown:

๐Ÿฅ‰Copper PCA – Not gonna lie, I thought this cream was going to be all organic tea tree oils and river clay. So what the F is Copper PCA? A synthetic skin-conditioning agent composed of the copper salt of PCA (Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid). Ok so it’s copper salt cool cool cool. Apparently, the reaction it has with your skin promotes new healthy skin development. It helps the skin get rid of dead skin cells by loosening them from the epithelial site, helps clearing skin and refreshing look of skin can be brought back Weird ok, more on that here.

๐ŸŒธ Bisabolol – Also known as levomenol, is a thick oily liquid, which is the main component of chamomile essential oil. This stuff has been used for hundreds of years on the skin, due to its strong anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. This is a big part of the “Barrier” in Aesop Elemental Facial Barrier Cream, as it shields the skin for irritants and UV rays. This stuff even fights off bacteria! It’s also what gives the cream that incredible smell that takes you to a far off land where everything is right in the world. Basically it is the GOAT ingredient of face creams.

๐Ÿ  Ginger Root – We all know what this stuff is, and frankly it’s delicious. As far as topically on the face goes, it has been used for THOUSANDS of years for healing the skin, including cuts and scrapes. Nowadays Ginger Root is even proven to promote better circulation in the skin, and has excellent anti-aging properties giving you firmer tighter skin.

I have to give this face cream 5 stars. Not just for all of the reasons listed above, but because I have used A TON of other moisturizing face creams, and none of them even come close to being as good as this one. It lasts all day as well, although I sometimes put on an extra thin layer right before bed for ๐Ÿ’ฆ OPTIMUM HYDRATION ๐Ÿ’ฆ.

At $60 for a small jar it seems expensive but honestly that little jar will last you months if you still to just using a really thin layer. You will not need more than that, trust me! If you want to treat your skin to a magical healing and protecting journey ๐ŸŒˆย  it will never forget, then pick up a jar of Aesop Elemental Facial Barrier Cream.
